Old photos assist an adventure into the past

A few weeks back, my brother was contacted by a man from Iowa.
He had purchased a house a while back and was finally getting around to cleaning out the attic. He came across old photographs (some so old they were done on tin) and photograph albums. Thankfully someone had taken the time to write names on a good share of these photographs and what family they were from. The man did some research and was able to contact my brother, as ours was one of the names. They set a time to meet, and the box is now in our hands.
It couldn't have come at a better time. My sister recently has become interested in our genealogy and timelines after a chance meeting with a distant relative at a craft show up north. They found that they had lived within a few miles of each other, but neither knew the other existed.
Together they started researching some of the family lines and were able to come up with quite a bit of information. Not just names and dates but some actual life stories. We looked through the box but were unable to spend a lot of time with it. We're now looking forward to being able to spread it all out on the biggest table we can find and put it all together.
I can't believe that this is all taking place because of two chance situations. One a chance meeting, two people just happened to be in the right place at the right time. The other a box of old photographs being found by a man who would take the time to get them into the hands of the family rather than throw them away.
We are very thankful and very much looking forward to being able to dig into the past.
