How to Print a Picture From a DVD

DVDs are a natural choice for storing photographs and a perfect way to share, view and print them also.

Things You'll Need:

DVD containing pictures
Computer
Printer or photo printer

Insert your DVD containing the picture you want to print into your DVD-R or DVD-RW drive on your computer. In most cases a prompt will appear asking what you would like to do, and you should click "Open folder to view files." If the prompt does not appear for some reason, just go into My Computer, access the DVD drive from there, and a list of files and folders will appear.

Locate and open the image you want to print. Now that you have the folder open you can browse through the images to select the one you want. If you're not sure of the file name, the image viewer in windows allows you to click through images sequentially while viewing them so you can easily find the one you want. If you wish to make any edits to the photo using Photoshop or a similar image editing program, this would be the time for that as well.

When you are ready to print, simply go to the File menu and select "Print." In the dialogue box that appears, make sure the printer you wish to use is selected in the drop down menu. You can then edit the settings if, for example, you wish to print multiple copies at a time. When you are ready, click "Print" at the bottom of the dialogue box and your picture will print.

River Severn frozen - rare archive photos from 1895

Archive photos owned by a Worcestershire man show the River Severn frozen enough for people to walk on it.

The photos, owned by John Hinton from Kidderminster, are in an old form of 3D known as stereoscope.
They date back to 1895, when temperatures in Worcestershire fell low enough to completely freeze the river.
They are part of a larger collection of photographs showing life in Worcestershire in the 19th century.

The Friends of Roundhay Park are on the hunt for archive film and photographs.

The group is currently working with Yorkshire Film Archive to produce a DVD to celebrate the park, in Roundhay, Leeds, as it used to be.

A spokesman for the Friends of Roundhay Park said: "We want footage and photographs taken by ordinary people visiting the park or attending events. We are also interested in the stories behind them.

"We ideally want material from before 1980 but there is really no time limit – so that would include such things as the Rolling Stones and other pop stars who gave concerts, mods and rockers in the park as well as older material such as Royal visits, children's day and the lido."

A rare window into life in imperial Russia

A rare window into life in imperial Russia is due to open on Monday, when hundreds of letters, postcards, photographs and even menus from the court of Tsar Alexander III are put up for auction in Geneva.

The documents were all sent by Alexander's children, Nicholas (who later became Nicholas II), George, Michael, Olga and Xenia to their Swiss tutor Ferdinand Thormeyer.

The documents were only discovered this year, when a descendant of Mr Thormeyer's was clearing out his attic. There, hidden in an old trunk, he found letters spanning 70 years.
